Homeschool ASL Classes

Grades 4 - 6 Beginner American Sign Language (ASL) Wednesdays 12:15 - 1:15 PM

This elementary level ASL class will have your kids signing in no time! Geared toward younger students, this course not only teaches the alphabet, counting, seasonal signs, and common signs and phrases, but how to effectively communicate using those signs. Learning is reinforced through regular practice in class, as well as ASL games, music, and videos.

Annual supply fee: $45 Monthly tuition: $65

Grades 7 - 12 American Sign Language (ASL I & II)
Mondays ASL I 1:10-2:30 PM ASL II 2:35-3:50 PM

ASL I

ASL I is an introductory course designed for students with little or no previous study of ASL. This class will focus on expressive and receptive skills in American Sign Language and an introduction to ASL history and American Deaf culture.
ASL I teaches the letters of the alphabet, numbers, common words and phrases, using sign language in sentence form, seasonal signs, and some signed songs. This course also covers basic conversation skills, an introduction to ASL storytelling, and ASL grammar. Weekly interactive activities allow you to rehearse what you’ve learned in class. Every week we will review and add new vocabulary.

ASL II

ASL II is an advanced level course designed for students that have successfully completed an ASL I class. This class builds on further expanding the skills and vocabulary learned in ASL I.
We will focus on the instruction and continued development of vocabulary, grammar, fingerspelling, basic classifiers, and overall sign production. Projects, presentations, a plethora of skill-building activities, exercises, and songs as well as interactive communication will be used to enhance and enrich developing expressive and receptive skills. Throughout the course, students will be able to continue performing the tasks of the novice language learner, such as: understand signed phrases, produce learned signs, phrases, sentences, stories & understanding the importance of grammar, culture, & communication in ASL.
